# Partial rewire in Swadlincote

## Partial rewire price

What it costs turns on how many circuits are renewed and how the rooms are built. Once the survey is done, the figure for that job is set and confirmed.

## When some circuits are replaced

Not every tired house needs gutting. Where only the kitchen ring, the upstairs lights or an old addition are past their best, those runs alone can be renewed.
- **Rooms being changed anyway:** A new kitchen or bathroom is the natural moment to renew its cabling, since the walls are already open and the run is short.
- **Circuits that keep tripping:** Cable that has aged or been damaged can trip repeatedly. Renewing that run cures the fault rather than living with resets.
- **Older wiring in part of the house:** Some houses have mixed ages of cable, with a newer consumer unit feeding old rubber or lead wiring in a few rooms. Those rooms are the ones to renew.

## What happens on the day

The visit is planned around the rooms being done. Furniture is moved or covered, floors lifted where needed, and power restored to finished circuits as each is done.
- **Walkthrough of what is being done:** Before anything is lifted we go room by room through the listed circuits, so what is renewed and what is left is plain to everyone.
- **Cable out, cable in:** Old cable is drawn out or disconnected and the new run goes in, chased into walls or under floors as the room allows.
- **Tested and put back:** Each renewed circuit is tested, floorboards go back down and chase lines are left ready for filling.

## Partial rewire questions

### How do we know which circuits need renewing?

The survey looks at cable age and condition circuit by circuit, and the report from any recent inspection is used where one exists. Only runs that are worn, damaged or undersized for their load are listed.

### Can we stay in the house while it is done?

Usually, yes. Work is done circuit by circuit and each room is put back before moving on, so the house keeps power apart from the run being worked on that day.

### Will the walls need replastering?

Chase lines are left clean and ready to fill. Filling and painting are yours or your plasterer's to finish, and that is made plain in the figure.

### Is a partial rewire enough for an EICR?

Where the report lists specific circuits or defects, renewing those runs deals with those items. Anything else on the report stays outstanding until it is dealt with.

### Does older housing take longer?
