## When garden lights are fitted

Path, deck and wall uplights are for seeing your way and for showing the garden after dark. They are not a security floodlight bolted high on a wall.
- **Along a path:** Low fittings along a path mark the way from gate to door. We set them so the walk is lit without turning the garden into a yard flood.
- **On a deck:** Deck lights at step edges and under railings show changes in level. Cables are kept tidy and suited to a deck that gets walked on.
- **On a wall:** Wall uplights wash light up a facade or a fence. They are chosen for the look and for finding your way, not for watching a drive the way a floodlight would.

## What happens on the day

We walk the path, deck and walls with you, place the fittings, then connect them. Each light is tried before we call the visit finished.
- **Walking the garden:** Together we look at paths, deck edges and walls in Littleover, Chaddesden or Spondon. Fittings go where they light the way you actually walk.
