Ways to pay

- Pay by bank
- Adding missing bonding is a smaller job than renewing a failed main earth.
- Where the supply itself needs the distributor's attention we say so before any figure is given.
When earthing and bonding is due
Earthing and bonding are what make fuses and breakers trip fast enough to matter. Older homes and changed pipework often leave gaps that only show on testing.
- After pipework changesNew boilers, plastic pipes and moved meters can break old bonds. Any plumbing change is a prompt to check.
- Found during an inspectionAn EICR often lists missing or undersized bonding. Renewing it clears those items off the report.
- Older installationsHouses wired decades ago may have bonding that no longer meets what the regulations ask for today, or none at all.
What happens on the day
Most earthing and bonding work is done in one visit. We check what is there first, fit what is missing or undersized, then test before leaving.
- What is there gets checkedThe main earth, the meter position and the water and gas entries are looked at first, so nothing is renewed that did not need it.
- Bonds fitted where missingConductors are run to the water and gas pipes, clamped close to where each service enters, and connected back to the main earth terminal.
- Tested before we goContinuity and fault loop readings are taken and written down, so the result is on record rather than assumed.

Photos of our work
What is bonding actually for?
It ties metal pipework and other metalwork to the main earth, so if a fault puts voltage on a pipe, protective devices trip instead of leaving it live to touch.
How do we know if ours is missing?
Often you can see it: a green and yellow conductor clamped to the water and gas pipes near where they enter. If there is nothing there, or the clamps sit on plastic pipe, it is worth a check.
Does new plastic pipework change things?
Yes. Plastic sections break continuity, so bonding has to be placed where it still protects the metal that remains. A survey shows where the clamps need to sit.
Is this disruptive work?
Not usually. Conductors are run along skirting, through cupboards or under floors where they can be reached, and the work is normally finished in one visit.
What if the main earth itself is the problem?
Then we say so plainly. Some earth arrangements need the electricity distributor involved, and we will tell you that before any figure is given rather than after.
